So you all know I had my consultation with Madeleine Shaw recently and I received my follow up plan on Friday so have spent the weekend finishing off the rest of the rubbish food in my fridge and cupboard ready for my new fresh, healthy foods!
One of the main issues that I wanted to address was my tummy area. This is where I seem to put most of my weight on and Madeleine explained that Sugar, Stress and Hormones are the main culprits for this area so she wanted to eliminate all sugar from my diet. I don't have masses of it to be honest but like she said, a lot of low fat foods contains hidden sugars so this could be where I have been going wrong!
Madeleine advised me to swap Sugar or Sweeteners for Stevia. Stevia is a South American herb used as a natural sweetener.
The leaves of the Stevia plant are refreshingly sweet, have zero calories and contain zero carbs! Stevia is also 25-30 times sweeter tasting than sugar meaning you don't need as much! Unlike artificial sweeteners, the sweet glycosides do not break down in heat which makes Stevia an excellent sweetener for cooking and baking.
My Mother in Law (to be) actually told me about this sweetener ages ago as she uses it and loves it! I tried it in a cup of tea once and really didn't notice the difference between this and a sweetener at all so I'm happy to use this as a substitute.
